Here's your chance to enjoy an evening of sophisticated soul and jazz with the elegant L.A. Mitchell. This is your last opportunity to experience the gorgeous intimate surroundings of the St James First Floor Gallery with the fourth and final singer in our 2009 "Life is a Cabaret" series.
L.A. Mitchell's powerful, soaring vocals will be supported by the six-piece Nativa band; original, sensitive arrangements, with influences such as Roy Ayers and Hall and Oates.
L.A. has made a name for her rich soulful voice and original music, both here and overseas. She opened for Stevie Wonder on his recent New Zealand tour, supported Dave Dobbyn on his European tour and toured nationally with the Fly My Pretties 3 sell out tour earlier this year and again this December. L.A. Mitchell is also a member of the rock band Dukes and collaborates with Sunshine Sound System and Oakley Grenell. In 2009 she was named first songwriter in residence for Auckland University.
Now you can experience her up close in her own show.
L.A. Mitchell performs keyboard and vocals and will feature many of her original songs from her first, self-produced album 'Debut' and her live recording with her six-piece band, Nativa, at Wellington's The Matterhorn.
If you know L.A. Mitchell and her voice you'll want to be here but be quick - tickets are definitely limited. If you love Alicia Keyes or Jill Scott you'll love L.A. Come hear the spectacular power of L.A. Mitchell's voice and experience the polish of her live act up close in cabaret.
This is a general admission show so come along early to secure your seats. Click here for an indicative seating plan. You can then relax with your friends over a sumptuous bottle of wine, yummy food and snacks available for purchase at the venue.
