Front of House

In addition to "The Jimmy" Cafe and Bar, the main entrance foyer incorporates separate Box Office and merchandising facilities. Ample rest rooms are situated in both the Stalls and Dress Circle Foyers.

The St James Theatre Front of House Staff have been thoroughly trained in all aspects of their jobs with an emphasis on service excellence, presentation and the welfare and safety of patrons.

  • Ushering Patrons to their seats, assisting them with their inquiries and ensuring their safety and well-being. At all times during performances a Front of House Staff member with a current first aid certificate is on duty.
  • Selling programmes and other performance and theatre related merchandise.
  • Assisting Food and Beverage Staff with all aspects of theatre hospitality and functions.

Careful selection of staff has ensured an integrated team that comprises a mix of experience, youth and enthusiasm, gender, ethnic origins and an overall desire to be the very best at what we do. In addition, we are able to offer:

  • Four programme/merchandise sellers per performance
  • As requested by the hirer, we can reserve parking spaces directly in front of the Theatre for the convenience of dignitaries and other VIPs
  • Valet parking for disabled patrons is also available on request.

1,552 +8 wheelchairs spaces, over three levels (licensed for 1608 patrons). Each level of the Theatre is side-loading (there is no centre aisle in stalls), with the optimum number of ushers for a full house at the St James being 15.
