The Seven Irish Tenors originated in Dublin more than a decade ago with the sole intent of showcasing to the world the finest young exponents of Irish singing. As time has evolved personnel in the troupe have changed, with many international performers with Irish roots joining the company to continue the tradition of Irish tenor singing that focuses on purity of voice and now they are coming to Wellington's Opera House.
You’ll be thrilled to hear Irish favourites such as “Danny Boy”, “The Rose Of Tralee”, “MacNamara’s Band”,”Phil The Fluter’s Ball”, “Galway Bay” and “When Irish Eyes Are Smiling”, as well as more contemporary songs like “You Raise Me Up”, “We Are The Champions”, and favourites such as “You’ll Never Walk Alone” “The Rhythm Of Life” and “Bridge Over Troubled Water”. There’s even some fabulous Beatles songs including “Hey Jude”– all performed by young, handsome, sparkling performers much acclaimed in Europe. And of course there wouldn’t be a show without “O Sole Mio”, “Funiculi, Funicula” and the spine-tingling “Nessun Dorma”!
As the International Post wrote after experiencing The Seven Irish Tenors- “they are simply breathtaking”
Other accolades include “If you like ‘Il Divo’, you’ll love this show” – The Sun, and “From Rock to Opera, from Pop to Classic Broadway. Young, sexy guys with great looks and amazing voices. The audience loved every minute of this tremendous show” – New York Times
In their New Zealand performances, the tenors will be accompanied on stage by a ‘live’ string quartet, complemented by tracks recorded by the Vector Wellington Orchestra and mixed by engineers at a leading UK studio ensuring a full and dynamic concert sound.
