Named after the striking features on Wellington’s rugged southern coastline Wellington Heads have been playing in and around the capital city for over 10 years.
Now you can enjoy an evening of infectious rhythms and quirky songs with the Wellington Heads in cabaret in the plush surrounding of the St James First Floor Gallery.
Wellington Heads have evolved their own sound through the influences of Kansas style blue jazz, the swinging rhythm n blues of Louis Jordan and Ray Charles, infused with Pacific/Hawaiian rhythms and Latino feels.
Wellington Heads star some of Wellington’s best talent with Neil Worboys on lead vocals, guitar & harmonica, Bill Wood on guitars & vocals, Geoff Keith on upright bass & vocals, Richard Te One on drums, James Tait-Jamieson on saxophone & percussion and Nick van Dijk on trumpet, trombone & percussion.
Their songs comment on life experiences with a distinctive Wellington flavour, often humorous, always contemporary.
Sharp and energetic, Wellington Heads entice people to the dance floor, regularly delighting audiences wherever they play here as well as outside of Wellington, and at festivals including Tauranga, Manawatu and Nelson Jazz Festivals.
Wellington Heads critically acclaimed fourth album, ‘A Night on the Town’ released in 2009 continues their unique sound with a mix of rhythm n’ blues, swing, soul and latino grooves.
Come along and enjoy the mood, food, wine and amazing music of ‘A Night on the Town’.
